Catalogic Software releases DPX 4.14 for enhanced data protection

Catalogic Software launches DPX 4.14, a backup solution seeking to offer streamlined tape management and improved data protection features.

Catalogic Software, a provider of data protection solutions over the past 25 years, has introduced the latest version of its enterprise backup and recovery solution, DPX 4.14This update aims to simplify and modernise tape management for organisations that use tape as a medium for long-term data retention and ransomware protection.

DPX 4.14 seeks to modernise tape management by integrating a web-based interface that simplifies daily operations, automates routine maintenance, and enhances visibility across hybrid environments. Administrators can create and manage SAN and non-SAN tape libraries from the DPX web interface. This updated design aims to facilitate device configuration, media pool organisation, and bulk tape media operations, reducing reliance on command-line tools.

This update aims to provide:

  • Automated Event & Report Cleanup: An automatic event cleanup mechanism is introduced to help large environments maintain performance. This feature helps prevent unnecessary event buildup for streamlined long-term data protection. Additionally, reports such as RPO Compliance and Unprotected Nodes now encompass S3 resources, offering unified visibility across on-premises and cloud storage.

  • Enhanced Schedule & Job Management: DPX 4.14 offers a refined schedule view combining Hyper V, VMware, and physical servers alongside S3 job instances. Users benefit from a holistic perspective of their environment, with improved job folder filtering to simplify scheduling for complex, multi-platform environments.

The enhanced DPX aims to bring together a virtual storage layer, tape support, and the flexibility of data mobility between on-premises, local, or cloud storage solutions. This flexibility supports the use of existing server and storage infrastructure while addressing security, ransomware mitigation, and data sovereignty needs.
